The making of… More Burma Voices

In February 2010 the first interviews for Burma Voices took place. In October and November of that year, more Voices were collected.

In refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border and in and around Mae Sot.

Most of these Voices were strong and speaking out in freedom.

Some for the first time.

Some were heartbreaking, painful, almost unbelievable.

All were proud, powerful and screaming to be heard.

Read them, listen to these Voices and spread them.

The world needs to know.

These are not stories, or myths, as one woman feared people might think.

This all really happened.

And it’s not ‘their’ stories in ‘their’ world.

This is our world and Your world too.

Become a witness and DO something.

Burma Voices: listen!

For decades, the people of Burma have been silenced by a brutal regime that cracks down every peaceful opposition with brutal force.

The Burmese people can and want to speak out though, and recent technology has enabled them to do so better.

We all remember the images of the monks marching in 2007.

Smuggled out of the country by brave undercover journalists.

Technology made them available to the world.

Burma Voices presents more voices from Burma.

Each telling his or her own personal story.

Each screaming out to be heard.

Each asking you to support their peaceful struggle for something most of us take for granted:

FREEDOM

Become a witness.

And do not turn your back.

Act now!
